SUNG JIN WOO (SOLO LEVELING)

Sung Jin-Woo, who is older than Sung Jin-Ah, is the oldest child of Sung Il-Hwan and Park Kyung-Hye. Soon after being awakened, his firefighter father started going into the Dungeon to earn money, but he soon vanished. After his mother was diagnosed with the Eternal Slumber Disease, Jin-Woo, a graduate, began working in the dungeons to help support his family and pay for his mother's medical expenses while also caring for his younger sister.

He does, however, have several near-death experiences, the majority of which involve being without a weapon or starving in the dungeons because he was the weakest Hunter even for an E-Rank.

Despite being an Awakened Human with physical prowess greater than that of regular humans, Sung Jin-Woo was weaker than other Hunters of higher rankings and nearly perished several times in lower-level dungeons. But after his Reawakening in the Double Dungeon, he changed into a Player and was able to level up and get stronger almost like a gamer. Since then, Jin-Woo has levelled up steadily by completing the various dungeons and exclusive ones he had access to alone, developing his skills and abilities while also being used by the System.

The Shadow Monarch slowly modifies the host's body using Ashborn's power, so the Architect's true motivation for developing the System was to find a host powerful enough to serve as the vessel for it. The original Shadow Monarch was not reborn after Jin-Woo successfully completed the Final Trial of the Architect and obtained the Black Heart of the original monarch. He gave all of his powers to Jin-Woo after having his heart pierced and coming into contact with Ashborn. This caused the System to be released, giving Jin-Woo access to all of his powers.
